Is your home ready for Old Man Winter’s return? Roanoke Electric Co-op’s Upgrade to $ave program can help member-owners answer that question and make their homes more energy-efficient for the cold weather season.
“The cost of keeping warm during the winter often poses a financial challenge for many of our member-owners,” said Marshall Cherry, the co-op’s chief operating officer. “This is often as a result of heat escaping unnecessarily from the home.”
To date, 465 member-owners have participated in the program that helps save energy and money by making weatherization improvements to their homes and businesses.
Here’s how the program works:
- Member-owner’s participation in the program begins with the free energy assessment, simply as a benefit of co-op membership.
- The co-op will send and pay for a certified energy assessor coming to the participant's home and conduct a full energy assessment to determine the efficiency upgrades that will result in the most cost-savings on the participant's monthly power bills.
- The co-op will then schedule a follow-up appointment to send a weatherization crew back to the participant's home to install the energy efficiency upgrades -- also at no upfront cost to the participant.
- More than 90 percent of our projects do not require upfront investments
