AULANDER, N.C. (March 28, 2022) -- Roanoke Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce the addition of Marva Bond to the co-op’s board of directors. In January, Bond was appointed to Roanoke Electric Cooperative’s board to represent District 6 of Gates County following board member and assistant secretary-treasurer Millard “Mickey” Lee's passing. Lee served on the co-op’s board for 25 years.
Co-op Board Chariman Allen Speller said Bond’s addition further strengthens the board’s focus on the co-op’s longstanding mission to enhance the quality of life in the region. “We are excited to have Mrs. Bond join Roanoke Electric Cooperative’s board to represent the members of Gates County,” Speller said.
Bond is a proud lifelong resident of Gates County. She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Elizabeth City State University and is a retired elementary school teacher of 30 years.
Bond is a member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church in Sunbury, where she serves as secretary of the church and Steward Board and is the church clerk. In the community, she is a member of the Gates County Library Board, Albemarle Regional Library Board, and Board of Directors of Studio 32 of Sunbury.
Bond states, “I am honored to serve the member-owners of District 6 and the entire Roanoke Electric Cooperative family. I will strive to make sure that member-owners are aware of the services provided by Roanoke Electric Cooperative that can lead to a more economical use of electricity and enhance the member-owner experience.”
