Roanoke Cooperative receives $187.5K grant for health and safety home repairs

Roanoke Cooperative (RC) was recently awarded a $187.5K grant from Ahoskie's Roanoke Chowan Foundation (RCF). The RCF assists non-profits in Bertie, Gates, Hertford, and Northampton counties to improve the health, wellness, and general well-being of the region's residents. The funds will allow the co-op to provide health and safety repairs to member-owners not eligible for the energy efficiency Upgrade to $ave program. Upgrade to $ave helps members plan and achieve energy efficiency improvements that produce savings on electric bills (i.e., improved insulations, duct sealing, water-heater wraps, and LED lighting). RH will use the grant to assist fund recipients in repairing health and safety issues in the home, which are necessary to take the next step in making energy efficiency improvements. "With the health and safety repairs done," said RC Chief Financial Officer Cathy Davison, "member-owners can begin saving money on their energy costs. This will allow them to pay for their energy and have additional funds to meet the needs of their families."For more information on the Upgrade to $ave program, visit https://www.roanokeelectric.com/save-energy-money/upgrade-to-ave-program/.
