Although much of our news feeds have been bombarded with COVID-19 lately, Roanoke Electric Co-op would like to change the narrative to one that is more celebratory. On April 13 National Lineworker Appreciation Day, Roanoke Electric Cooperative joined other electric co-ops across the nation in paying tribute to the sixteen dedicated linemen who continue to keep the lights on for our member-owners.
Lineman Appreciation Day is a moment to celebrate the men and women who keep our country’s power flowing. While we will join electric cooperatives across the country to honor these brave men and woman this month, Roanoke Electric is proud to honor its linemen year-round.
Through the rain, hail, snow, wind, hurricanes and tornadoes, our guys always show up in a big way. We recently had several storms to hit our area, and these men worked around the clock, sometimes in dangerous conditions, to restore the power to thousands of our member-owners.
To maintain the co-op’s more than 2,000 miles of line, these guys go above and beyond the call of duty. I am extremely proud to work alongside them daily.
The co-op invites all using social media platforms to use the hashtag #ThankALineworker to show your support for the brave men and women who power our lives.
