America’s electric cooperatives have designated the second Monday of April as National Lineworker Appreciation Day. On April 10, Roanoke Cooperative honors the hard-working people who often face challenging conditions to keep the lights on.
Roanoke Cooperative’s lineworkers restore power during outages and maintain distribution lines and equipment in the field. Across the nation, more than 19,000 lineworkers maintain 2.5 million miles of line for electric co-ops, public power districts, and public utility districts. We proudly recognize all of them for their services around the clock in dangerous conditions to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety.
Following severe natural disasters, these dedicated people work tirelessly, and often far from their families, to restore power. This month, we honor and thank them for their dedication and service and recognize the critical role lineworkers play in keeping the lights on.
Roanoke Cooperative invites members to take a moment to thank a lineworker for the job they do. Join us on social media and use #ThankaLineworker to show your support for the folks who light our lives.
