Millard Lee of Gatesville has served on the Roanoke Electric Co-op Board of Directors since 1997. Born in Guilford County in North Carolina, he was orphaned at a young age.
Despite his humble beginnings, he went on to lead a successful career in the insurance business for more than 20 years.
Lee takes great satisfaction in helping those in need. In addition to 18 years of dedicated service to the Hobbsville Volunteer Fire Department, he extends his community outreach in support of local cheerleading squads, football teams and churches.
A recent cancer survivor, Lee said he is proud to serve as a member of the co-op’s board. As for the future, he is especially eager to see Roanoke Connect roll out to the entire membership. “Getting our member-owners connected will improve the quality of life here,” he said. “We are blessed to be able to do that. If we can enhance the quality of their life for the people in this community, what more can you ask for?”
