Delores Amason has been a member of Roanoke Electric Co-op’s Board of Directors since 2001.
A self-professed “farm girl,” Amason still lives on her family’s farm in Tillery, N.C. She spent 30 years as a business educator, before retiring in 2003 as Dean of Students at Halifax Community College.
She is very active in her service to her community. In addition to serving on the library board for Halifax County, Amason is also very involved with her church, Tillery Chapel. She presently serves as fundraising chair for the local volunteer fire department.
She says she is honored to serve as an advocate for member-owners. “I am so proud of this co-op, because it is so proactive and innovative. It’s always looking for ways to make things better for the member-owners,” Amason added. “Our leadership sets a good example for other coops across the USA.” They are capable and know how to get things done. We are fortunate, in this economically deprived area, to have a co-op like Roanoke Electric. They really do put the member first.”
