The Forest Landowner Conference will focus on technical assistance from state and federal agencies, forestry and agriculture taxation, and financial opportunities for farmers and forest landowners. Three 90‐minute sessions will be held over the two days of this free conference. The keynote speaker is Curtis Wynn, president and chief executive officer, Roanoke Electric Cooperative. This is a virtual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Session 1. October 27, 6 pm – 7:30 pm ET — Financial Assistance
Landowners will receive information on state and federal services and programs available to forestland owners and farmers in the form of cost-share programs and technical assistance.
Session 2. October 28, 10 am – 11:30 am ET — Taxation
Landowners will receive information about Present Use Valuation and other programs with tax implications, as well as the role that Forest Management Plans play with regard to eligibility for these programs.
Session 3. October 28, 1 pm – 2:30 pm ET — Economic Opportunities
Landowners will receive information about solar energy programs, recreational leasing and other ways to derive income from their property.
