Roanoke Electric Golf Tournament raises $34,000 to support Roanoke Center
Gloomy skies and rain failed to dampen the spirit of the day, as golfers teed up in support of a cause at Roanoke Electric Co-op's Inaugural Golf Classic Tournament. Held November 9th, 2017 at Scotch Hall Preserve Golf Course in Merry Hill, the first-time tournament raised over $34,000 to advance the mission of local non-profit, the Roanoke Center.
72 golfers completed 18 holes of golf and participated in activities including the Wingspan Raffle, Putting Contest, Trivia Tee Competition, Men and Women Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin Competitions. Prizes were sponsored by Strickland’s Auto Group in Ahoskie, and included a vacation to award-winning golf destination, French Lick Resort.

We look forward to our 2nd Annual Golf Classic Tournament in 2018."
As a non-profit affiliate of Roanoke Electric Co-op, the Roanoke Center promotes community economic development in Roanoke's service territory, comprised of Bertie, Gates, Halifax, Hertford and Northampton counties. The Center offers local citizens and entrepreneurs technology assistance, training and other business development services and spearheads programs to generate regional investment. The Roanoke Center leads the area-wide Sustainable Forestry Project, provides technical assistance and marketing support to Roanoke Electric's popular Upgrade to $ave program, and offers contractor recruiting and training assistance to Roanoke Electric enabling it to better serve its member-owners. The Roanoke Center also works to secure USDA Rural Development loans and grants in support of community development.
