Partnering to save energy and costs

“Why are you trying to help us use less electricity?” That is a question we often get from our member-owners, especially now that we offer more programs and tools than ever to help them reduce energy consumption.

The short answer is: “Because we are your cooperative.” It is our mission to do whatever we can to enhance your quality of life and help to build stronger communities.

Helping our member-owners become more energy efficient and reduce energy costs is the primary focus of many of our ongoing programs and initiatives. These include Upgrade to $ave, Pre-pay Bill, and the Co-op Connections Card.

Perhaps most notable among these energy-saving programs is our Roanoke Connect initiative, which has enabled us to improve outage detection and restoration.

The fiber optic network also has paved the way for us to take advantage of new technologies to manage energy consumption, such as Wi-Fi enable thermostats and water heater control devices. This comes with the added benefit of bringing much-needed broadband internet to this community. Installations are now underway and soon expanding to be made available to all member-owners throughout our service territory.

With the threat of wholesale power rate increases looming, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting programs and services to help soften the financial blow.

As we enter this second quarter of 2018, rest assured  your co-op will not rest, as we have much more in store for the remainder of the year and beyond. The future is bright and filled with progress yet to come. We look forward to partnering with you and serving your best interest, today and always.
