Honor co-op linemen with your NC license plate
Sign up at co-op through Jan. 25 for new NC license plate design to honor the lineman!
To show gratitude to North Carolina's electric linemen, Roanoke Electric Cooperative is joining North Carolina's Electric Cooperatives in the "Keeping the Lights On" license plate campaign. The new specialty license plate will highlight the linemen's dedication and service to North Carolinians and is available to all motor vehicles registered in North Carolina, except for vehicles for-hire, commercial plates over 26,000 lbs., farm tags, taxis, state-owned vehicles, or vehicles with orange and black plates.
Co-op member-owners, employees, community partners and others are registering for a fee of $30.00. Once the minimum 500 applications required by the state in order to manufacture a new license plate design are received, the plates will be produced and mailed to the registrants within the next year.
In addition to paying tribute to North Carolina line workers, every citizen purchasing the new plate will be helping to support the critical work of the University of North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center, where $20.00 of each plate fee will be donated.
