Kilowatcher Prepaid Metering

1. What is Prepaid Metering?
Prepaid metering offers the opportunity to pay-as-you-go for electricity, with a minimum prepaid metering purchase of $25.00. Instead of receiving a traditional paper bill that is generated monthly, usage is calculated daily.

2. Is There a Deposit for Prepaid Service?
Prepaid customers are eligible to have their deposit waived or refunded and applied toward current energy costs. The in-home display requires a $50 deposit.

3. How Do I know When My Balance is Low?
An in-home display is installed for each prepaid customer. We encourage all members to use the information on their display to plan power purchases and avoid disconnections, especially after hours. We consider after hours after 5 p.m., weekends and holidays.

4. How do I make Payments?
Payments can be made in person or by telephone. Prepaid VISA Cards and MasterCards may be used to purchase electricity over the phone or internet if the office and your local payment centers are closed. All power purchases are assessed a.$1.00 surcharge.

5. How Do I sign Up?
Contact Member Services at (252) 209-2236 for complete details. You will be asked to have your account current including any unbilled usage.

**Note: To avoid accrual of the basic facility charges, prepaid customers must notify the office and request disconnection of service upon moving.
